What we collect and why

  • Orders.
    • What: your name, email, phone number, shipping and billing addresses, the items you buy, and any personalisation you give us (names, dates, monograms).
    • Why: to make, ship and support your order, and to meet tax and accounting obligations.
    • Payment: payment details go directly to our payment provider, Stripe, through our checkout. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Event date. When you give it at checkout, we use it to plan production and delivery, and to apply our "Before the Day" terms.
  • Bespoke enquiries. Your name, email, event date and message, so we can reply and prepare a quote.
  • Reviews.
    • What: your email, an optional name, your rating and your comment. These are collected through Hostinger.
    • What's public: we publish your name, rating and comment.
    • Your email is used only to manage your review.
  • Returns. Photos of returned pieces and seal records, so we can process your request and keep our returns fair.
  • Technical data.
    • What: our servers log basic data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested.
    • Why: security and reliability.
    • How long: up to 30 days.
  • Website analytics (only if you accept).
    • What: the pages you view, the page that sent you, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and your approximate location (country, region or city) worked out from your IP address. If you place an order, we also count its merchandise subtotal and number of items, never your name, email or address.
    • Why: to count visits and orders and see which pages work, so we can improve the store.
    • How: only if you choose Accept on the cookie notice. Our analytics provider, Umami, builds a visitor code from your IP address and browser details, sets no cookies and doesn't store your IP address with the analytics data.
    • How long: up to 6 months.

We don't sell personal information. We don't use advertising cookies or trackers.

Cookies and local storage

  • Your cart is saved in your browser's local storage so it's still there when you come back. It isn't sent to us until you check out.
  • Checkout: at checkout you're on checkout.hostinger.com. There, Hostinger and Stripe may use cookies needed for payment and fraud prevention.
  • Editors only: our editors use a short-lived, secure cookie to preview unpublished content.
  • Your cookie choice is saved in a cookie called ws_consent for 180 days, so we don't ask again. If you decline, we also save a note in your browser's local storage that tells the analytics script not to run.
  • Analytics run only if you choose Accept. We then load Umami's script from cloud.umami.is. It sets no cookies and respects Do Not Track. We don't load it if you choose Decline or your browser sends the Global Privacy Control signal.
  • Order summary: if you accepted analytics, when you go to checkout we keep the order's subtotal, currency and item count in your browser's local storage for up to six hours. We use it once, on the order confirmation page, to count the order, then delete it.
  • Change your mind at any time with Cookie settings in the footer.

If we add other analytics or marketing tools, we'll update this policy first and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

Email

We email you only about your orders, returns and enquiries. If we start a newsletter or send promotional reminders, we'll ask for your consent first. Every such email will identify us and include an easy unsubscribe link.

Who we share it with

We share only what each provider needs to do its job for us:

  • Hostinger: website hosting, online store, checkout, reviews and email. Our website is hosted in the United States.
  • Stripe: payments and fraud prevention. Stripe processes data in the United States and other countries.
  • Shippo, Canada Post and UPS: shipping labels, customs and delivery.
  • Umami (Umami Software, Inc.): website analytics, only if you accept. Umami processes this data in the United States.
  • Professional advisers and authorities: where the law requires it.

Because these providers process information outside Canada, the courts and authorities of those countries may be able to access it under their laws. We choose providers that protect information to a standard comparable to Canadian law, and we remain responsible for it.

How long we keep it

  • Order and tax records: as long as tax law requires, generally 6 years
  • Enquiries that don't become orders: up to 2 years
  • Return and seal records: 2 years
  • Gift-card records: while a balance remains
  • Server logs: up to 30 days
  • Analytics data: up to 6 months

After that, we securely delete or anonymise the information.

How we protect it

  • Encrypted (HTTPS) connections.
  • Reputable providers.
  • Access limited to those who need it.
  • Strong passwords.

If a breach of our safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we'll tell you as soon as feasible and report it to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as PIPEDA requires. We keep a record of every breach for at least 24 months.

Your rights

You can:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate information corrected;
  • withdraw consent, subject to legal or contractual limits;
  • ask how we handle your information.

Contact our Privacy Officer; we respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca).

Children

Our store is for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
